Nigerian actor, IK Ogbonna’s wife, Sonia took to Instagram to share some relationship tips on how to be happy and last long in marriage.

According to her, having an ideal partner is never enough to make a happy marriage, as the key remains being happy with yourself first. She wrote;

“What is the key to HAPPY MARRIAGE? Y’all think it’s about finding an “ideal” partner that will save u,take care of you and make you happy? Well no. It will NEVER BE ENOUGH. The key is : Learn how to BE HAPPY BY YOURSELF FIRST. Because a human being that is happy on his/her own will never settle to be miserable with someone else. When you find happiness on your own then you will be able to spread it and share it with someone else . You can’t give what you don’t have right? And you can’t expect from other human being what you CANT give yourself. No one can save you but the super human you see in the mirror so stop thinking that your happiness is out there in some future tense, laying in order person’s hand. All the magic begins in YOU! Yes , YOU ARE THAT POWERFUL !”

27-year-old pregnant lady married by 58-year-old woman to give birth to kids for late son

0
|

Here’s an interesting report culled from Sun News, and it is all about a pregnant lady who is happily married to a dead man. It was gathered that her marriage, has made her mother in-law Mrs. Mary Torkwase Antom, 58, from Tse Baraku in Kwande LGA of Benue State, the happiest woman on earth. Reason: her dream to immortalise her husband and son’s names has been fulfilled, thanks to what she considers the wise decision she took after the death of both her son and husband.

A 1986 diploma holder in Catering and Hotel Management from Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, she worked as a caterer at the prestigious NICON-NOGA hotels in Abuja, between 1988 and 2001, before resigning, to set up a booming restaurant business on Makurdi Road in Lafia.

How she lost husband and son
Formerly married to Mr. Patrick Terlumum Antom from Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and a retiree of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture (they got wedded in 1980), the union was blessed with only one child, Thomas Awuhe Antom. Born on June 13, 1990, the boy was in SS2 when he died in 2004, from a heart-related sickness. A year later, his father, Patrick, also died.
That left the woman devastated. “Growing old is tough, but growing old without the support and company people close to you is tougher,” she told Saturday Sun . Add to that the fact she is diabetic and you begin to understand why she feels that life can never be tougher than she had seen and may climb to “toughest” if she does not do something drastic to secure not only the family name but also its property.

“I had lived a happy life with my late husband,” she explained. “We shared ideas and always kept our resources in one account. We achieved a lot during his lifetime, we had very good plans for our only son, but God took him away. To worsen matters, my husband also died. We have a lot of landed property; we equally have business establishments.”

Her worry
Mrs. Antom popularly known as ‘Hajia Mary,’ said: “My worry is, when I die, who will take over this property? My husband had, while on sick bed, warned me seriously not to allow any of his relations to benefit from the property that both of us had laboured strenuously to acquire. He was not in good terms with them before he died.”

She was in a dilemma about how to solve the problem she was confronted with when a friend told her about a pretty young unmarried lady, one Miss Juliet Muese, from Obi LGA who was on the verge of being disowned by her parents for her inability to identify the guy responsible after becoming pregnant out of wedlock. All of the three men she mentioned, one of whom is Igbo, denied ever knowing her and even threatened to arrest her with the police for trying to defame them.
Strange marriage
On learning about the incident, Mrs. Antom became determined to seek Juliet’s hand in marriage for her dead son, in keeping with Tiv tradition. She travelled to Obi, met with and held a close and lengthy discussion with members of Juliet’s family on that score. The idea was to bring her into her home with high hope that she might deliver a baby boy who would later inherit their property. With the parents of Juliet readily agreeing to the marriage proposal after the long talks, Mrs. Antom repeated the visit accompanied by some elders from her husband’s village to perform the traditional marriage rites that would formally seal the deal.

“What I did is a well-known practice in our place and culture,” she said in defence. “There are a lot of children, almost 18 per cent of them born after their father’s death. Majority of them lost their fathers before they were born, it is not a new thing, such cases are everywhere in our place.

These children answer their father’s name, some of them have even won local elections; they are grown-up people today and nobody has said anything; they have gotten their dues in our community, so my case is not an exception; all I need is a grandchild and a bona fide inheritor of my property.”

The marriage that took place in 2007 has produced two boys with the third child on the way, although it is difficult at this stage to say whether it is going to be a boy or a girl. To start with, Juliet was delivered of a baby boy on December 1 of the same year. She became pregnant again and was delivered of another baby boy in March 2011. Right now, she is three-months pregnant for her third child.

Mrs. Antom who is excited about the development told Saturday Sun that her husband and son’s names that would have gone into extinction are now going to be heard for a long time to come because they have somebody to answer to them. While the first son is named after her late son, Thomas Awuhe, the second son is named after her husband Patrick Terlumum.

“I married a wife for my late husband and son so that I can keep their names alive,” she enthused. “Their names cannot just die with them; they will grow up and inherit what we laboured for. Any other person in my shoe would have done that. I lost my husband and only son; more painful was my son who died unmarried. But I’m fulfilled that my late son now has two male children who are bearing his name. I looked at life and asked whether it was really worth it. I hope for death every day. Any time I wake up, I think about what the future holds since my husband and only son are late. They have gone leaving me alone. Their death till date is agonizing to me. But my consolation is that I have got a replacement for them.”

Happily married to a dead man
She announced that any moment from now she would commence the process of changing all the documents regarding all her property to their names. She also has a big dream for their young mother, Juliet. “She is comfortable answering my son’s name,” she said. “She wrote JAMB and I’m processing her admission to the Federal University, Lafia. Hopefully, she will start a degree programme next year; she is humble, loyal and focused.”

Mrs. Juliet Muese Antom agrees that she is comfortable answering Mrs. Antom’s son’s name. “That is God’s design for my life,” she said. “My parents were fully prepared to shame me that I got pregnant while in the secondary school.

I was very young then and could not tell exactly who among my boyfriends impregnated me. But I strongly suspected one Mark, but he denied and ran away. I was desperate without a place to go until Hajia came, so for me I’m very ok.

“I have no problem, in fact I’m doing better than those who got married to living husbands. Hajia is planning to buy a car for me next year if I secure a university admission. It is unfortunate that I never met my late husband. I only see his pictures but that is how God designed it. As you can see, I’m looking sweet and people toast me a lot, but I shun them. At the moment, I have a boyfriend who is a student at the state university, Keffi. Though Hajia does not teleguide me but I make sure she does not know when I have sex with my guy. She deserves that respect.

“My first son’s biological father denied him. My second son’s biological father who is a student at Keffi is married. He is equally responsible for this very one l’m carrying, but he cannot come and claim them. So, there is no problem. I’m good to go.”

Village head reacts
Speaking in a chat with Saturday Sun , the village head in Doma LGA, Chief Angbande Hue, said what happened is a known tradition among his people, adding that the tradition was very rampant in the 60s. He explained that since the woman went there with elderly men from her village to ask for the girl’s hand in marriage, it is traditionally genuine. Those children are accepted in that place and it has become their place of origin.

He noted that most women who usually engaged in this kind of practice had passed the age of childbearing and most have lost their husbands and male children.

“We have a lot of such cases in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states. Among the Tiv people, there is no problem with what she did. Under our tradition, even the biological father of those children cannot lay claim to them because they did not pay the bride price; it is the person who paid the bride price that is considered to be the legitimate owner.”

Lawyer agrees
Emmanuel Akur, a legal practitioner told Saturday Sun that such cases are handled in the customary court and the court looks at the custom of the tribe to take a decision. If the Tiv tradition says that the payment of bride price is a criterion for ascertaining the rightful owner of the child, so shall it be, he argued.

“I think there is no issue here,” he said. “Nobody has come to lay claim to these children. The woman, accompanied by elders of the village, paid the bride price of this girl to secure her hand in marriage. That makes it legal. So the origin of those children is not in doubt as far as customary law is concerned.”

“Most wanted” Nigerian fraudster arrested in Ghana after 9 months on the run

Bridget Enchill Obeng, a Nigerian woman dubbed “notorious Nigerian Female Serial fraudster”, has been finally apprehended by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service after reportedly playing hide-and-seek with the police for nine months.
She is said to have defrauded over 10 victims under the pretext of selling vehicles to them.
Bridget Enchill Obeng aka Naana was busted at Baah Yard, Awoshie, Accra.
Reports from Ghana say the police had earlier arrested a woman suspected to be Enchill Obeng at Osu on May 14, 2017, but upon investigations the law enforcers realized that it was a mistaken identity; and on the orders of the Director General in-charge of CID, COP Bright Oduro, she was granted bail.
Upon a tip-off, Enchill was later busted by the Osu police in another case and was later handed over to the CID for investigation.
According to the police, more law enforcement officials – the Tesano, Adabraka, Teshie and Airport police are also investigating her for fraud.
Modus Operandi
The Director in-Charge of Operations at the CID headquarters in Accra, ACP Peter Gyimah, told DAILY GUIDE that Enchill Obeng, who operated with the name Naana, displays various vehicles for sale with her contact numbers on them.
When interested persons contact her, she then arranges to either meet them or asks her accomplices to do so and in the process, takes from prospective buyers monies ranging from GH¢9,000 to GH¢50,000 and absconds, leaving the victims to their fate.
Enchill Obeng, according to ACP Gyimah, takes the buyers to other persons she claims are the real owners of the vehicles.
After the money has been paid, Enchill and her cohorts then present the victims with fake car keys and documents and asks them to go for the vehicles.
When the victims get to where the supposed vehicles are parked, they will not find them (vehicles).
When they return to the place where the money was paid, they do not meet anybody.
Police investigations have revealed that the suspect and her accomplices often use apartments with owners outside the country or hospitals for their nefarious activities.
Six of the victims of Enchill Obeng told the police that their monies were collected at the Korle-Bu Teaching, 37 Military and the Ridge Hospitals, DailyGuideAfrica.com reports.

Ifeanyi Dike had allegedly raped, killed and removed vital organs of an eight-year-old girl, Victory Chikamso, before escaping from police custody.

It was reported that Ifeanyi Dike was able to escape because one of the policemen on duty on Saturday night identified as Johnbosco had unlocked the handcuffs for Dike to write his statement.

JohnBosco was later dismissed and another Divisional Police Officer in Rivers State (name withheld) arrested on the orders of the State Police Command for his alleged involvement in the escape.

‘Eedris saved your life when cult boys wanted to kill you!’- Rafioso slams Timaya

0
|

Nigerian artiste and show promoter, Rafioso, has slammed Timaya over his statement that Eedris Abdulkareem is a dirty looking  igbo smoker who wasn’t nice to a lot of people not nice to a lot of people during his reigning days.

You recall, in an Instagram video rant last week, Timaya lashed out at Eedris Abdulkareen after Eedris went on Goldmyne TV to express his disappointment with the quality of music Timaya was making.

A pained Timaya didn’t take the criticism well so he lashed out at Eedris saying Eedris is a dirty looking igbo smoker that should be ashamed of himself. According to Timaya, Eedris was not nice to a lot of people, including his former colleague, Rafioso.
Timaya ranted:
“I was your backup artiste and you were not even appreciative. Did you even know my name? You regarded me like a nobody…I paid my transport to your shows because I was learning. You never paid me…How many people don blow through you? How many people have you helped? Where is them Rafioso, all those people wey dey with you?,” Timaya spat in his scathing Instagram video.
Well, Rafioso in an interview with Punch says Timaya painted an untrue version of Eedris and recounted the one time Eedris saved Timaya’s life from cult boys. Here’s what he told Punch:
“There was a time we went for a show at Ogun State University. I was already asleep in my room during the show but I learnt that Timaya insisted that he wanted to perform last after Eedris was done with his performance.

The show promoters were not comfortable with the arrangement because Eedris was his boss. Eedris agreed and when he went on stage, the tempo was very high but when it was Timaya’s turn to perform, they were not feeling him anymore.

The people began to insult him and Timaya insulted them back. When he came down from the stage, the cult boys in the school followed him because they wanted to beat him up. The next thing I heard on my door was a loud bang, it was Eedris at my door shouting that I should wake up because the boys wanted to kill Timaya.

We went to where Timaya was and brought him to my room where he slept that night. You can ask Timaya or the show promoter, Offshore, he would tell you the truth. Spydaman was at the show among other artistes. The cult boys began to look for Timaya for insulting them but we hid him in our room. Early in the morning, we had to move out.

“So when I saw what Timaya posted about Eedris, I felt it was like an insult. I don’t know why he called my name and said that I am nowhere to be found. You don’t say that.

He should speak for himself and not for me. I am doing very well. I am an artiste and a show promoter; I also have other businesses I am into. I have houses and tenants. I don’t understand why Timaya mentioned my name. I was with Eedris for more than 16 years and he helped me. He showed me love just like he did to everybody.

“When I was Eedris’ back-up singer, he treated me in a very lovely manner. As a back-up artiste, it was not as if Eedris called me or Timaya, we were trying to be famous, so we had to go and meet him. We were serving him.

To be honest, Eedris can cut his arm and leg just to help someone. Whenever they gave him money, there was a boutique where he normally bought clothes; he would call the owner of the shop to bring costumes. We would all pick costumes and Eedris would be the one to pay for them.

After everything, he would still give us money. Timaya was not based in Lagos at the time, he was in Port-Harcourt and he only came down to Lagos anytime he heard we had a show. Whenever we had a show, we had a stand-by bus that conveyed us to the venue and back home but since Timaya was coming from Port-Harcourt, we could not wait for him so he had to come and meet us at the venue of the event. Eedris treated all of us fine.

“The problem is that when Timaya came, he did not come to Eedris as a singer but as a dancer. He is a very good dancer.

Eedris could be harsh when he wants to advise you so he advised us on how to explore our different talents. As for me, I was into acting before I got in contact with Eedris, I was in Kiddies Vision 101 with Denrele. When I met Eedris, he advised me that I could sing because I have a good voice. He put me through and he encouraged me.”

“When I watched Timaya’s video and saw that he said Eedris did not treat him right, I did not understand what he meant.
When I first joined the crew, I did not get to see Eedris all the time. He was always inside so we had to relate with his manager. He was not someone you could walk up to like that because there was protocol.

The compound was very big so whenever we got to his place, we would sit under a tree and we ate whatever we wanted to eat because they would bring food for us. Timaya was not the only one with Eedris, there were so many people with him.
I remember Eedris told Timaya then that he should stop singing and try to sing a song about his dialect or where he is from. I sincerely apologise on behalf of Eedris to the likes of Tuface, D’banj, Davido, Mr. Eazi and every other person he insulted except Timaya.”

Shocking footage captures Indian women writhing in pain as they’re whipped by priests in bizarre ritual to cure them of ‘evil spirits’

Shocking footage has captured Indian women being whipped during a bizarre ritual to free them of ‘evil spirits’.

Every year some 2,000 women queue for five hours to be lashed at the ancient Achappan Temple in Trichy, south India.
When their turn comes, they kneel on the ground to be ferociously flogged by a priest.
Many wince and writhe in pain as their family members watch on, hoping they will be cured.

One school girl Vishakha, who was made to sit in the queue by her parents, said: ‘My parents think I’m possessed because I show no interest in my studies.

‘Now my friends will laugh at me when they see the whip marks I’ll get after attending a festival to cure mental disorders,’ cried the young girl.

Other teenage girls were brought by their parents for either not yet attaining puberty or having irregular periods
A priest insisted the whipping was not a crime, adding: It is a belief of devotees and the practice is an ancient tradition. We cannot alter.’

Some elderly women agree with the priest and believe the whipping will cure them.
One 60-year-old said: ‘A lash here cures all ills, physical or mental. I have been receiving lashes at the temple for past decade and I have been cured of my illness. I have immense faith in the lashing.’ (DailyMail)
